Richard E. Zawlocki, 87, of South Bend, passed away Tuesday in his home. He was born on December 14, 1924, in Ironwood, MI, to the late John and Angeline (Novak) Zawlocki.
On June 17, 1950, he married Georgiana M. Wroblewski, who survives. Along with his loving wife, he is survived by his four daughters, Maureen (Nicholas) Pomato of Frederick, MD, Karen Rose of Indianola, WA, Patricia (John) Ray of Granger and Christine Zawlocki of Silver Springs, MD; three sons, Richard (Joan) Zawlocki of Sefner, FL, James Zawlocki of Chantilly, VA and Donald (Debra) Zawlocki of South Whitley, IN; 15 grandchildren, Nicholas, Rachael, Noah and Ryan Pomato, Russell and Alexandria Rose, Sara, Amber, Jennifer and John Ray and Sebastian, John, Emily, Ellen and Daniel Zawlocki; three great-grandchildren, Micah Gollnick and Mya and Riddick Pomato; by a sister, Dorothy (Roman) Winkler; and a sister-in-law, Lois Zawlocki, both of Muskegon, MI.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Larry Zawlocki.
Mr. Zawlocki retired in 1986, as the President and Co-Owner of Steel Fabricating in Mishawaka, after 37 years of service. He was 1942 graduate of St. Ambrose High School in Michigan. In 1946 he graduated from the Notre Dame Naval School. After being honorably discharged, he continued in the reserves while he studied at the University of Notre Dame. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1949 with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
Richard loved to golf and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church. Richard was a hard working, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am Friday January 27, 2012, in Christ the King Church, 52473 SR 933, South Bend, IN.
