Lula L. Allsop, 93, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2012, in her home. Lula was born on July 8, 1918 in LaPaz, IN, to Roy Glen and Nellie (Claybaugh) Franklin, and was a lifelong area resident. She had been a Farmer in German Township for many years and had also been previously employed with the St. Joseph County Assessor's Office. On May 14, 1936, in Lakeville, IN, as Lula L. Franklin, she married Charles C. Allsop, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1998. Also preceding her in death were a son, Francis Allsop in 1982; and a brother, Omer, Franklin. Survivors include two daughters, Alice Farrington of South Bend, IN and Marjorie (Larry) Royce of South Bend, IN; three sons, Charles R. "Bud" (Sonja) Allsop of Niles, MI, Larry (Ilah) Allsop of North Vernon, IN, and Jerry (Jane) Allsop of South Bend, IN; one daughter-in-law, Janice Daugherty of Granger, IN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; fourteen great great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Phyllis Pippenger of Plymouth, IN, Betty Weigand of Ligonier, IN, and Joyce (Wayne) Lacher of Plymouth, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012 in Corpus Christi Church. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. The family would like to thank Lula's three caregivers, April, Amber, and Brittnay. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, Inc.
