Joan L. Wilson, 77 passed away after an extended illness at Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle, May 18, 2015. Joan was born on October 17, 1937 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Carl and Eva Hope. She has lived in the New Carlisle area for 45 years, coming from South Bend. She graduated in 1955 from New Buffalo High School in New Buffalo, Michigan. She was employed at Sears in Michigan City for 10 years and retired as a word processor for Watson's Collectibles in New Carlisle after 18 years of service. On July 12, 1964 she married Donald R. (Bud) Wilson, Jr. He died on July 12, 1989. She is survived by her son Donald R. (Robin) Wilson, a grandson Donald R. Wilson of Hudson Lake, an aunt Dorothy Pearce of Michigan City, a sister-in-law Gayle (Mike) Garrage of Edwardsburg, a sister-in-law Colletta Garrage of South Bend, a brother-in-law Robert (Jacqueline) Wilson of Buchanan. She enjoyed gardening, collecting memorabilia and spending time with her grandson. She was a member of the American Legion Post 297 Auxiliary in New Carlisle, IN. She will be remembered and missed as a loving and treasured wife, devoted mother and grandmother and a truly very special friend to all who knew her. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 South Filbert Street, New Carlisle. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Carlisle Ambulance or the New Carlisle Fire Department.
