Deborah L. Lamphier, 59, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, December 24, 2016 in her home. Deborah was born on January 18, 1957 in Niles, Michigan and was a lifelong area resident. She had been employed as the Store Manager for Ziker Cleaners on Portage Avenue for 17 years. On October 18, 1997, in South Bend, she married William J. Lamphier, who survives. Deborah is also survived by her daughter, Jaime Gillis of South Bend, Indiana; her son, Jason Gillis of South Bend, Indiana; her step-daughter, Emily Burdick of Walkerton, Indiana; two step-sons, William Lamphier of South Bend, Indiana and Eugene Lamphier of Walkerton, Indiana seven grandchildren, Jaelynn, Kearstyn, Hannah, Allison, Mya, Julia and Joseph; one great-grandson, Connor; her parents, Ken and Rita Verhoestra of Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Ann Boalo and Sheryl Verhoestra; one brother, Kenny Verhoestra; and by longtime family friends, Tammy Lower and her daughters, Ashley and Ariel Meece. A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Deborah was a member of the Clay Democratic Club in Roseland and was a volunteer for Relay for Life Team Ziker's.
