I didn't find out about this until after the funeral. We would have been there otherwise. He was such a great guy we will remember him fondly.

Dear Mary Ann & Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy.
It is difficult to believe that Gene Gene the Jelly Bean has passed. I personally benefited from his carpentry skills at Mom & Dad's house. He finished the attic, and I got a better bedroom (which some of my nieces now think is haunted) - I never noticed that. We enjoyed his teasing us, which is probably why we gave him his cute (?) name.
I hope your memories of him will comfort you during this difficult time and always. May he rest in peace, and may God bless all of you.

I am so blessed to have known and felt apart of your family for so many years now. You are the patriarch of such a wonderful group of people, I know you are the reason the family you and Maryann raised have the values and love that they do for one another. I pray that you are at peace and you feel Gods unconditional love, I know that you are free of pain and watching over your family just like you always have.
until we meet again.... Much Love.

Mary Ann & Family,
You have our deepest sympathy on the passing of Eugene.
So sorry to hear this news, for Gene was a good hearted man who will be greatly missed. My children Christina & Julie will hold some fond memories close to their heart and will always remember the good times that "Papa Gene" & Mary Ann provided them over the years while babysitting the kids at your home. For they loved watching Papa build things.
Our family is forever grateful for all that both of you have done for us over the years. I will always remember how your family gathered like the "Walton's on a daily basis enjoying a cup of "Java" and having good fellowship.
Will be sure to keep all of you in our prayers.
